We now have permission to admit baptised children to Holy Communion.
We will prepare the children together with their parents using a special published programme and when it is thought appropriate a day for their First Communion will be set and they will then be able to receive Holy Communion regularly. The children so admitted will be expected to come for confirmation a few years later as they grow in the Christian life and faith.
This will enable our younger children to take a fuller part in the life of the Church. However, while the day of First Communion will be an important one, we want to avoid making it an expensive and extravagant occasion but that the deeply spiritual nature of the event will be emphasised.
